For most that have followed my life on harley ghost over the last two years … you probably found it very tumultuous. Funny a lot of times … sometimes thought provoking … sometimes offensive … sometimes embarrassing. All in all … this blog was just a chronicle of my life. Life is a struggle, period. Anyway who tells you differently is living in a bubble or not on this planet. But, I have moved on in my life … and this blog just does not seem to fit me anymore. Yes, I still enjoy riding motorcycles. Yes, I still enjoy writing … the thing that is changing in me is … I am beginning to enjoy LIFE again.

I thought I would just take the whole sight down and eliminate the evidence … but I just renewed my hosting for another year (not voluntary, thanks godaddy) … I thought about taking down some of the posts that upset folks and really were hurtful to myself and others … but then I thought … why? At least for a year it will serve to remind me of where I have come from … the depths of bitterness to crawling up on the banks of hope.

If you look … you will find another blog from me, if you want. It seems every August I have a change … maybe because it’s my birth month … I don’t. Thanks for tuning into Harley Ghost.

here’s a shot of the open road at sunset in the hill country. I took this while driving … not smart … but a cool foreground blur. This was on the road to the enchanted rock … 15 miles north of Fredericksburg. It was also scary because the deer were running. We saw 4 dead on this road alone and over 20-30 head of deer along the roadside.

I know it’s been a couple of days since my last post or two. Every once and a while you have to take a couple of steps back and just look at the stuff you’re doing in your life. Yes, sometimes every minute of everyday … and ask yourself … is this it??. Blogging comes up short on some days … but I did get to go to Casey’s film at AFI Dallas yesterday.

I love the hub bub of film festivals .. so much anticipation and excitement. If you want to catch the trailer or better yet … go see it this week.

The 69 year old Dawn Wells was coming home from her birthday party! What a drag! Can you believe they busted her on her birthday? It’s ok Dawn … 40 years ago you could have gotten out of that deal. But now … maybe …. not so much.

Of course her story to the cop was right out of a Hollywood script.

TULSA, Okla. - Two fortune cookies helped Tulsa police make an arrest after a pair of break-ins Chinese restaurants. Terrence Middleton, 30, was booked Friday on charges of second-degree burglary and attempted second-degree burglary after police responded to a burglar alarm to find him with more than $20 in coins and the cookies in his pockets, Officer Leland Ashley said.

Middleton was being held on $15,000 bond.

Ashley said police were able to link Middleton to the Asian Express that was robbed because he had possession of the same type of fortune cookies that were at the restaurant.

The alarm went off at the Asian Express about 14 minutes after one sounded at the Chinese Chef Restaurant down the street Thursday night, Ashley said.

When officers arrived, both restaurants had their front doors broken. At the second restaurant, the cash register had been pulled open.

Minutes later, officers stopped Middleton, who was walking down the street, and he dropped various coins and a prison identification card, Ashley said.

Ashley said it appeared there was nothing stolen from the first restaurant, and all that was missing from the second restaurant was $20 in change — and the fortune cookies.

When you think you’ve heard it all … a RESEARCHER at Hebrew University of Jerusalem submits a study claiming Moses was high on psychotropic drugs when he received the ten commandments and saw the burning bush. Benny Shanon, a professor of cognitive psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem wrote in the Time and Mind journal of philosophy.

Later in the article we find the reason for his claim:

He mentioned his own experience when he used ayahuasca, a powerful psychotropic plant, during a religious ceremony in Brazil’s Amazon forest in 1991. “I experienced visions that had spiritual-religious connotations,” Shanon said.

Well, there you go. Here’s the article. The picture is from worth1000.com.

Unfortunately, I do not look like this today. Now … I feel like Tito looks … but the body will soon follow.

I did pull a 12 for the week … which I think is great for my age and condition. I still have a long way to go … but, getting a week under my belt is a good thing.

I went yesterday with Michael to buy some new running shoes. Mine were worn out. We went to Luke’s locker in Dallas. If you have never been there … it is a different kind of place. You get analyzed and they pick your shoes for you. You don’t just go to the wall and say … “do you have these in a 12.” … Nope, you are measured and looked at throughly. And you can only wear these shoes while working out … save them to do the yard in after they have about 350 miles on them.

I also bought a jump rope and more free weights over the weekend. I’m slowly and methodically turning the front bedroom into man land. Now I have the garage and the front bedroom. Exxxcelllent.

For my motorcycle readers … typepad has been so kind as to not take down the harleyghost.typepad.com … site for quite sometime now … I’ve still be making money off of it thru google adsense all this time as well … so I decided to re-instate the blog and just put up motorcycle stuff … since this one has pretty much wandered off it’s intended course.

I get about 700 readers a day off of this blog … why, I don’t know … but I do … there are a lot of archived stuff here that some would have beneficial.

The Green Zone is a fortified area inside Baghdad with all the comforts of home. Here is a legit photo of a new Burger King opening in Baghdad. The folks that the US defense dept. draws from outside the US to work these places … they are … well, poor people from other countries who feel $900 a month is well worth getting shot at for a flame broiled whopper.

Privatized security is the big money job. Driving dimplomats to and from the Baghdad Airport. Sounds secure.

Last Sunday one of the icons of my youth left the planet. Larry Norman, shocked the Christian culture back in the 70’s … and never stopped being who he really was. Larry died of heart failure at his home in Salem, Oregon.

Larry was cut from a different cloth. Some thought he was too radical for church … he was but, he would tell you he didn’t come to preach to the converted. Larry is credited with over 60 albums. Started his own record label years ago. Still clear to his message.

It’s humorous to me those that will ‘now’ compare him to a great prophet or great Christian icon … when most main stream Christians would not even claim him when he was alive.

I liked Larry. His music. And his methods.
