last post as harley ghost

For most that have followed my life on harley ghost over the last two years … you probably found it very tumultuous. Funny a lot of times … sometimes thought provoking … sometimes offensive … sometimes embarrassing. All in all … this blog was just a chronicle of my life. Life is a struggle, period. Anyway who tells you differently is living in a bubble or not on this planet. But, I have moved on in my life … and this blog just does not seem to fit me anymore. Yes, I still enjoy riding motorcycles. Yes, I still enjoy writing … the thing that is changing in me is … I am beginning to enjoy LIFE again.
I thought I would just take the whole sight down and eliminate the evidence … but I just renewed my hosting for another year (not voluntary, thanks godaddy) … I thought about taking down some of the posts that upset folks and really were hurtful to myself and others … but then I thought … why? At least for a year it will serve to remind me of where I have come from … the depths of bitterness to crawling up on the banks of hope.
If you look … you will find another blog from me, if you want. It seems every August I have a change … maybe because it’s my birth month … I don’t. Thanks for tuning into Harley Ghost.

the road while driving (dangerous)
Posted on May 5, 2008
here’s a shot of the open road at sunset in the hill country. I took this while driving … not smart … but a cool foreground blur. This was on the road to the enchanted rock … 15 miles north of Fredericksburg. It was also scary because the deer were running. We saw 4 dead on this road alone and over 20-30 head of deer along the roadside.

first gathering

The reservation is made. 10 am at The Colony Community Center in … The Colony. The address is 5151 North Colony Blvd. You should be able to google map it … it’s right next door to the Police station. I am excited. If you invite people to come … please tell them it is very, very informal. Jeans and tshirts are fine … since that is probably what I will be wearing. Everyone is welcome … tattoos, piercings, hair, no hair, problems, questions … matters not. You can be as anonymous as you want or come to make friends. We will set up a little at 9:30 … coffee and some refreshment may be served. If you have any questions, ask. Don’t hesitate to invite someone with you or meet you there. We won’t embarrass you or them. But we will make everyone feel welcomed and apart.

solstice at stonehenge
Posted on December 4, 2007
I can’t tell you how pumped I am about starting this ministry. It’s like I have been in the darkest three days of my life the last two years … and now I can begin to see the sky lighten as it does just before the sunrise. Solstice Church is a reality. I am not setting out to re-define the word church … I am setting out to do something about helping people build relationship with each other and with God. Relationships trump Religion. Hey, you can’t get around the fact that Christianity is a religion. I am a follower of Christ so therefore … I am a Christian. But, Solstice is a place in my heart not in a building. So wherever we meet … and whenever we meet … a turning point (Solstice) will occur. Why? Because I intend to make new relationships. I plan to better my relationship with God and with others.
It looks like I can get the community center in the colony for a nominal fee … so that’s where we will meet this coming Sunday. I will have to let you know on the time when I make the reservation.
The only way Solstice will make a difference in peoples lives is to, at least, let them know that there is a choice and an opportunity. Word of mouth will be our way of caring for others around us. Website? Probably. Newspaper ads, glaring billboards, little signs on the corner … nah. We’re not after people’s money … we are offering friendship and connection. If those that come like it … they will tell others. That’s just the way it will be.
There are tons of people out there that have been damaged by the church and have vowed never to return. I went to a church this past Sunday where the pastor said “if you own your business, say like plumbing, and you show up at a house with a dirty old truck, and your tools everywhere, with four different hub caps, and a dirty tshirt on … don’t tell them that you are from ____________ Church. Because as a Christian you shouldn’t look like that.” So we climbed back into Lori’s filthy car with a load of tile in the back … (making it look like a low rider) … and drove our tshirt making selves away. I thought to myself … his whole service was about how they needed a million dollars this Christmas season to buy more stuff to make their church “cutting edge”. Strange, I never see that message in the bible.
Some may say, “man … you have had a string of bad luck finding a church.” You don’t know the half of it. That’s when God kicked me in the butt and said … stop driving around and start doing something. At least that was my interpretation of that.
Keep in touch. Here we go.

michael elfed
Posted on November 30, 2007
I’m way over the top today to blog about deep stuff. Had major DSL probs that got resolved at 9:40. But, this did make me laugh … this photo is a capture from something Michael and Darrah sent me. Seems Micahel got himself elfed for the holidays. This probably is in lieu of putting up Christmas lights on his house. My boys have issues with Christmas lights … it came from me. They are scarred for life in the manner that I put up and took down Christmas lights the few times that we did that. Fortunately, we have an HOA that forbids Christmas lights and so I won’t have to make excuses for the lack of holiday spirit. It’s not that I am a grinch … it’s just that the hoopla of Christmas is way too commercial for me. I just like being together as a family and enjoying my time away from work and problems.
I’ll be back tomorrow, maybe in full form. Until then … enjoy your day by enjoying being nice to someone.
