casey gooden’s intervention
Posted on March 31, 2008
I know it’s been a couple of days since my last post or two. Every once and a while you have to take a couple of steps back and just look at the stuff you’re doing in your life. Yes, sometimes every minute of everyday … and ask yourself … is this it??. Blogging comes up short on some days … but I did get to go to Casey’s film at AFI Dallas yesterday.
I love the hub bub of film festivals .. so much anticipation and excitement. If you want to catch the trailer or better yet … go see it this week.
Here’s the movie website …

moses was high
Posted on March 5, 2008
When you think you’ve heard it all … a RESEARCHER at Hebrew University of Jerusalem submits a study claiming Moses was high on psychotropic drugs when he received the ten commandments and saw the burning bush. Benny Shanon, a professor of cognitive psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem wrote in the Time and Mind journal of philosophy.
Later in the article we find the reason for his claim:
He mentioned his own experience when he used ayahuasca, a powerful psychotropic plant, during a religious ceremony in Brazil’s Amazon forest in 1991. “I experienced visions that had spiritual-religious connotations,” Shanon said.
Well, there you go. Here’s the article. The picture is from worth1000.com.

help wanted, great pay?

Burger King is hiring … in Baghdad. Yes, along with Subway, Pizza Hut and probably McDonalds. Sounds like a sweet gig … if you are aspiring to make about $900 a month, free rent and board and oh, … sometimes mortars go off about 5 yards from your french fry station.
The Green Zone is a fortified area inside Baghdad with all the comforts of home. Here is a legit photo of a new Burger King opening in Baghdad. The folks that the US defense dept. draws from outside the US to work these places … they are … well, poor people from other countries who feel $900 a month is well worth getting shot at for a flame broiled whopper.
Privatized security is the big money job. Driving dimplomats to and from the Baghdad Airport. Sounds secure.
Here’s a story on job seekers in the Green Zone.
I’ll have to stick with printing tshirts this week.

I thought I was the only crazy one
Posted on February 12, 2008
No TV and no beer, make Homer, something, something, Go crazy … don’t mind if I do.
Sorry, one of my favorite Simpsonisms.
This sign made me laugh. Something occasionally, I do now. When I do, laugh, it is for good cause and quite hearty. Hearty, is that the right word? Maybe you can help … I’m not up to googling speed as of yet.
Speaking of google … what did we do without it.
Ahhh … encyclopedias, books, and the yellow pages.

to market, to market
Posted on January 30, 2008
Ok, from the weirdness files.
My question is … what happened to the one little piggie who got away (top carrier, empty) … a snack?, traded it for gas?, traded it for the cool helmet? over the weight limit for the scooter?
I guess I shouldn’t laugh … if our economy does not turn around soon … this might be a common site in the US.
But, that’s a lot of pork patties at IHOP.
