up take

I finally left a forwarding on my old blog. Greetings to all who have ventured to the hog-side. Man it has been busy around "ye olde print shop" the last few days … it makes the dread of a garage/barn sale even worse … but I have to get it over with … the next few weekends are crammed. I pretty much work until about 7-8 pm each night and then watch a little TV and then crash until 6 am and do it all over again. Pretty exciting, huh?
After my lastest dream distruction … I’ve pretty much wanted to make things simpler in my life. I would love to just sell out and travel for a year … but that probably won’t happen … that is so irresponsible. I am so getting a tattoo though … just as soon as I can figure out what I want and someone that I trust doing the art. What would be cool is to do a road to Miami and let Kat or Ami do it … I love what she does with shading … she is a real artist. I think Darrah could make a great tattoo artist, except she would not want to hurt anyone. I wonder how much it really does hurt. I mean on a scale from 1 - 10 … 10 being like dropping a 3/4 sheet of plywood on your toe from 2ft in the air and one being a razor cut on your head. … or better yet 10 being passing a kidney stone and a one being … sitting through church. Maybe someone could share.
If my boys are reading this … how come I didnt get an invite to go to Austin for the festival? Then I wouldnt be going to Longview … (see pain chart above).

is summer over?
Posted on August 30, 2006
Yesterday the climate was great in our little part of Texas. After suffering with a jillion days of 100+ tempatures, it was nice to have day where the breeze did not feel it was coming out of the south of hell. Last night it was a pleasant 83 and very enjoyable. Even though I know the people in Florida are getting it from Ernesto … maybe this hurricane had something to do with moving our high pressure away from North Texas. OK … enough about the weather.
I was checking out the Republic of Texas Rally … 06 on their site this morning … here. I can’t wait until next year when I hope to attend! My recent trip to Austin and my ride down Congress St … made me think of the longest bike parade ever was on this street. Check out the site and catch the pic galleries … some really cool looking paint jobs on those bikes.
I’m sort of looking forward to next weekend. We have the great Pilot Point High School homecoming parade on Friday and the rally over at Cross Timbers on Saturday. It could turn out to be a fun weekend. NOT like this weekend coming up … I am having a garage sale!! I hate those things … but they are a necessary evil to get liquid to pay off bills and such. Hopefully I can pull off a good one and get some green.
Still trying to find new blog sites that go along with what I’m feeling these days. I get tried of reading the same old dribble about emergent church and post modern blah, blah. I thought that ec would be a different kind of movement … it’s just the same old arguments stuffed in a vegamatic and served up like pico. Church should be different … loving and be loved. Oh well … I don’t think it will happen in my life time. I hate to throw up my hands … but after 30 years of it … it’s time to let it lay.
keep it upright –

harley riders for christ
Posted on August 29, 2006
When looking for a niche group … like "guys who are christian and like motorcycles" it would probably surprise you to find one of the largest para-church movements that pretty much go unnoticed. I found this site this morning … that I was pretty impressed with … fellowshipriders.org … and better than that … the guys story who started it … here. Jeff Means has it pretty much going on when it comes to organizing this ministry. I am impressed that it is void of preacherly type organizers at the top. It is totally a grassroots kind of movement or ministry. In my estimation this is totally what emergent church should be about. Not some ‘look at my theological stance’ … but a ‘meet me at this level’ stance. There are lots of chapters all over the US and especially in Texas. One affliate is found at FBC Lewisville. Jeff has it going on … if you want to start an affliate in your church there is a place to get hooked up online. Anyway … I’ve never been to one of their deals … but there heart seems to be in the right place.
